I don’t normally pay attention as to who is on the International Space Station and what they are doing up there.
Not until this tweet exchange between Canadian astronaut, Commander Chris Hadfield in space and one of my favorite actors (on Earth, I assume), William Shatner, caught my attention, that is.

Paying homage to Captain Kirk rocketed this astronaut from meh to pretty darn cool, so I started following his tweets ~ which he updates about every hour.
Here are a few of the many cool twitter pics he has sent from the ISS:

He also interacts with his followers and lets us all know what he is doing up there. He exercises, he works, he takes pics, he talks to us, he makes educational videos:
I think it’s safe to say that Commander Chris Hadfield is setting the stage and the standard for future astronauts, wouldn’t you?
Follow him at @Cmdr_Hadfield.
Do you follow Commander Hadfield? What would you like to see him tweet about? Tweet him ~ I bet he’ll answer. If he does, come back and share!

Thanks for this, Kim. I’m going to “follow” this guy!
Great! You’re welcome
I shared on FB a great blog from someone recently on this… Apparently Wil Wheaton and others also got in on the Twitter conversation with William Shatner and Commander Hadfield. Way cool!
Oh ~ I missed it! I’m gonna go look ~ that is so cool!
Cool post…I didn’t know astronauts tweeted from space and stuff. That’s awesome
Thanks ~ it came as a surprise to me too! Great to see you, Mike
Great to see you too
Sorry I haven’t really been around lately. I think I’m still learning how to budget my time for stuff now that regular semesters in college are a part of it, and I really lapsed in the social media department during the fall
I’m trying to do better at it now
That’s okay! I’m just glad to see you
Budgeting time is tough, especially when a new monkey wrench is thrown in. Stinkin’ monkeys..
Like Mike, I had no idea tweeting was happening all the way from space. So. Very. Cool.
We’ve come a long way from the broken transmission of “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” ~ right?
