This is where my alligator friend - Hank – likes to hang out on the side of my house and where I like to watch the sunset disappear behind the trees each night.
Do you have any water near your house? What animals hang out there?

Wait–an alligator lives behind your house? Really?
The only water near my house is a lake a few miles away…and nothing lives there except ducks, I’m pretty sure
Really! Curiously, there are very few ducks. Hmmm…
Yay! Good one! I’m going to do this one too in a few days. Currently gathering images.
Wait, an alligator, you said? Where do you live?
Cool! Can’t wait see see your photo
Yes and I’m strangely attached to his presence. If he doesn’t show up in the spring, I get all worried about him. Ha!
I live in South Carolina. Do you have alligators there or just crocodiles?
I live about a mile from the San Francisco Bay, so I feel the breeze but don’t see any water without a making a concerted effort.
Alligators are the one animal (reptile?) that totally terrifies me. They can run up to 40 miles an hour! I am NOT KIDDING. And those jaws! If they clamp down on your leg, they won’t be letting go any time soon. o_O
That’s my worst nightmare talking. I’m sure they’re not all that gruesome.
That must be nice feeling the breeze off of the bay. Ahhh..
Yes, if he is on our side of the hill, we don’t get anywhere near him and usually just watch him out the window. Mostly, he’s pretty skiddish, but I don’t take chances. When my husband fishes in the pond, if Hank is in there, he’ll come swimming over to see if anything is on the hook. I don’t stick around for him to get too close or too comfortable, as he’s about 6 feet long.

I love black and white photos. Yours is great. Like everyone else, I read this and went, “Wow, there’s an alligator just outside Kim’s house!” The closest water to me are the two rivers that run through town. The ocean is an hour away.
Thanks! I like black and white too. That’s nice that you have the ocean so close. I feel so inspired at the beach, except when it’s spring break and I don’t know it and there are tons of teenyboppers screaming and throwing beer cups around. Although that behavior can certainly be used in a story

Black and white imagery, a beautiful lake, a serene neighbourhood, and… an alligator named Hank. Love it.
Thank you, Sherry!

I live in Calgary, a short walk from the Bow River. It has a lot of ducks, fish, geese, and kayakers. Although, not so much right now. There is still a lot of ice. Often we see deer and coyote down there.
Banff National Park is an hour and a half to the west. Lots of animals there. No alligators, but, among other things there are bears, elk and the odd cougar. The cougars are a problem…
It sounds so beautiful! So much wildlife ~ I would love to visit Canada one day. Do you kayak? We have kayaking here, but I haven’t tried it yet.
